The Process of WallPimps Posters & Prints

We mix old school with new school until we get the best of both worlds. We create what we feel like and let ourselves go when combining different methods and techniques. That’s what makes our poster art stand out. We do have a lot of respect for artists in general, but why not update and perhaps improve hand painted artworks by enhancing them with modern techniques?

Lino Posters & Prints

Linocut, also known as linoleum print or lino print is a variant of woodblock print in which a sheet of linoleum is used as a sort of ‘stamp’ instead of a wooden block. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shape chisel or gouge with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller and then impressed onto paper or fabric. The actual printing can be done by hand or with a press. In our case we print by hand and then digitize the prints for further print processing.

There are endless variations you can create with linocut. We love lino printing because of the small uneven lines, not one print is the same. Every Lino print has its own small irregularities, and we think that that’s the beauty in it! In the near future we will offer limited hand-printed linoleum-prints. For now, as said, we scan the original print in high quality DPI and print the artwork with our professional Canon printer.

Digitally Inspired Wall Art

Using many different techniques gives us a great perspective on how we can combine and create unique pieces of art. We hand-craft, paint, draw and digitize our artworks freely. When we have the idea that we have created something ‘WallPimps-worthy’ the artwork goes through to the ‘next round’.

That’s when PS-/AI-editing come in! With our digital skills and rendering capabilities we are able to create mind-blowing posters.

Just imagine the impossible!

Bamboo Art Prints

The bamboo pen gives a rustic vibe and a very ‘un-digital’ drawing effect. These hand created graphic bamboo prints stand out, especially when working on white backgrounds. The uneven lines from the pen work really well with clean backgrounds, giving it a stylish and minimalistic look.

Very Zen to look at and also to create...

The ‘Bamboo Pen Prints’ series is one of our first WallPimps’ originals. Until this date the poster ‘Bamboo Quad’ is one of our most viewed products.

Handmade Art Posters

At WallPimps we use any technique that comes at hand, being drawing, painting, hand-printing etc. We feel free to experiment by combining these mediums to achieve the most unexpected and surprising results.

It feels like a playground to explore all the possibilities we have at hand in the studio of our mom (and wife), Liesbeth.
